Buying an e-scooter? Take care of battery

There are many buyers now considering moving to an electric two wheeler have been left worried by reports of Electric Vehicle batteries catching fire but yes they are the Future and eco friendly. So if you are planning to buy, here are some tips to ensure good battery health and happiness ride.

  1. Do not put the battery on charge immediately after you’ve gone for a ride. Let it cool down before you plug it in. In summers, try and ensure that you charge the battery at night, when the temperatures are low.
  2. Only use batteries and chargers from the company or authorised sellers. While after market batteries might be cheaper, they may not be as durable leading to overheating and even explosions.
  3. While fast charging might seem convenient, these chargers delivers huge power to the battery in a short time and this might lead to overheating or battery damage.
  4. Monitor your battery charge levels closely. Try not to discharge it to a very low level and don’t keep it plugged in even after the battery is sufficiently charged. This will ensure long life for your battery and also avoid temperature fluctuations.
  5. It’s best to ride e-scooters in a smooth manner without accelerating suddenly, which might lead to the battery overheating.
